A pre-authorization validates a credit card and temporarily reserves a specified amount of available credit for confirmation at a later date. It is not a permanent charge, although it may appear in an online banking statement while it remains active. This reservation of credit is usually only in effect for 2-3 business days and will expire automatically, but some banks on rare occasion may require as many as 10 business days. This process is part of our fraud prevention measures. Entering a credit card is mandatory when creating a new account. The amount we reserve for pre-authorization is $60 USD, the cost of a standard backorder.
